23 September 2004

A recent full round of CANZ stopwork meetings to discuss the Department of Corrections proposed variation to the collective agreement has resulted in a massive NO vote

The well attended meetings voted on average 97% to reject the proposal!

CANZ members expressed concern about the risk to their Health & Safety under the current muster with the staff shortages that existed in many institutions.

Members at all of the meetings expressed concern about the problem of Recruitment and Retention of staff, and demanded that the Department take urgency to address this situation.
