The CANZ CIE negotiating team met in Wellington today with representatives of the Department in an attempt to make progress on the negotiation of a Collective Agreement to replace the expired CIE Collective Agreement.

The CANZ team included Vic Day, Wayne Gibson and the CANZ Industrial Organiser. The Management Team was led by the Departments Bargaining Agent Tony Teesdale, supported by Tony O'Rorke, Bronwyn Kingdon and Brett Maughan.

The meeting proceeded in a constructive manner and a number of initiatives were explored. The Employer party has agreed to give consideration to some proposals which require sign off from a more senior level.

The parties have agreed to reconvene the meeting on August 18, when the management team will respond.
A further update will follow that meeting and if necessary a full round of meetings will be called.
