CANZ UPDATE

Urgent Application on Muster Levels
Following the abandonment of the Directed Mediation by the Department of Corrections over the Muster Payments on 25 May, because of a lack of funding for “muster type payments at any level” the Department of Corrections continues to attempt to breach Operating Capacities at a number of prisons.

The Union has instructed Lawyers to file an urgent application with the Employment Relations Authority to make the Department comply with the Muster levels.

This Union is not prepared to put at risk the Safety of its members or the public. The current attempts by the Department to breach musters must be resisted at all levels. A Corrections Officers role is to detain inmates in a safe, secure and humane environment, and this cannot be assured if Operating capacities are breached.

Nurses Remuneration Talks Delayed
The Union has agreed to not attend the talks set down for Monday 13 June to discuss the Nursers Remuneration, following a communication from the Departments Private Bargaining Agent on Thursday that there was no sign off from the Department as to what could be offered.
