CIE Delays Industrial Action - 17 February 2006

Hello all,

This is just a quick update to inform you all of the latest actions that our members in CIE are about to take.

Due to the lack of common sense in CIE management we have endeavored to make the strike notices as clear as possible. CANZ would hate to have CIE spend any more of the money they don’t have on expensive lawyers to get clarity on what actions our Instructors are taking.

Attached to this email are the 2 strike notices [ 1] [ 2 ]that CIE will have delivered on Friday. The first notice tells CIE that the pre-cast Instructors will only work 7-3 from the 13th of March.

The second notice tells CIE that all CANZ Instructors will be withdrawing all labor for a 24 hour period starting at 10am on Wednesday the 15th of March. This is a full strike and they will be picketing outside every prison in the country. Support these fellow CANZ members in there struggle with CIE and front up for the picket either before work during your lunch time.

Also remember your managers have every right to ask you to do the job of a striking worker. You also have every right to say no.

In the last update B Hanlon said that Tony Teesdale finally contacted him, re the muster allowance variation for both A&P and CIE. Well we are still waiting. The good news is that this allowance is back dated to the 12th of December.

Written on behalf of the National Officers.
