CAMPS Update for CAMPS staff - May 2006

To all staff including non CANZ members.

Hello Team

As you will have seen - CANZ are having a very important stop work meeting on Wednesday 10th May at 2.00pm.

We want as many people as possible present at the meeting as this involves your future conditions & any possible remuneration increases etc that may come from the negotiations.

With the expiry of our contract looming we are coming into a crucial part of the year & our national membership figures are reflecting this with very strong increases in many regions! Camps has been no exception with an increase over our usual number of signings including several notable seasoned campaigners (old war horses…) joining the team. These folks, like elsewhere in the country, have realised that strength in numbers certainly counts during these times & with the changes to the employment act, being part of the 'house' union is an important step in the right direction.

The department is well aware of our growing membership numbers as our Employment Agreement comes to an end & the signal that this sends - the more collective voices the clearer the message! PPS needs to address recruitment & retention & your stand by being part of the house union does add weight.

For those of you not yet in a union or perhaps aligned somewhere else, it's not too late to come on board & as such, a membership form is attached below. Please print off & fill out (or give to someone to fill out if you know they're not yet a member) & return to either myself at Cedar 1 or Alan Whitley at Hautu unit.

Lastly but not least! Welcome aboard to all our new members - it's great to have you on the team.

Regards to all & see you Wednesday
Rich Lange - Nat Exec CANZ.
