Unit Managers Industrial Action - 30 May 2007 |
|
As most of you will be well aware in recent media reports the Unit Managers affiliated to the PSA have lodged intent to undertake industrial action. The Unit Managers are basically going to work to rule which means no overtime and oncall duties. As a Union CANZ totally support their view and actively encourage the Unit Managers to stand up for their pay and work conditions. CANZ do not in anyway wish to undermine their position and request that all PCOs approached to undertake the normal tasks of a UM politely decline. This would include on call duties i.e. signing off at risk papers. Some of you may well raise your eyebrows as to the support we are giving the managers, but it is an expectation of belonging to a Union we support each other. The work that will not be done should be covered by a senior manager not a floor staff member. Your managers have every right to ask you to do the job of a striking worker. You also have every right to say no. Print off this page so that you have a reference when pressured by a manager. Employment Relations Act 2000 sec 97(3)Gives you the right to refuse to do the work of a striking worker. Union members don’t do the work of a striking worker. Sent on behalf of the |
