CANZ Special fund review.

Dear Members,

During the August 2008 National Executive conference at Auckland, the National Officers and Executive Officers decided to conduct a review of the Special Fund.

I was volunteered to conduct the review along with Sharon Reid of the Canterbury branch.

We are seeking ideas from the membership, as to how we can put to use some of the money held within the Special Fund for the benefit of all members.

For example, an idea that has already been suggested by the Executive is a $1,000 death benefit paid to the family of serving CANZ members if they should die whilst being employed by the Dept of Corrections.

Our intent is to use the interest generated by the special fund. However, you may come up with other ideas that we will put to the Executive and membership.

Please bear in mind, that any ideas received, will have to be endorsed by the National Executive, followed by a rule change and finally, a national vote by all CANZ members will have to be arranged.

So, please consider carefully your ideas, comments or suggestions before you contact me.

For your information, the Special Fund currently stands at $1M approx.

You can e-mail myself at  William.kavanagh@corrections.govt.nz

Or Sharon at Sharon.Reid@corrections.govt.nz

Regards,

Bill Kavanagh,

National Executive,

CANZ Canterbury.
