NEWS FLASH

Yesterday CANZ sought clarity from PS on when Development Day would be observed as it is usually the day after Boxing Day which this year falls on a Saturday.

We are pleased to inform you that we have just received the following response from PS:

The Development Day has been set at Monday 29 December 2008. All employees who qualify for a Development Day in terms of their employment agreement will be entitled to it whether they are rostered off, rostered on, or on leave.

· If an employee is rostered off then they will credited with a lieu day

· If an employee is rostered on, they will be paid normally and will receive a Lieu Day but will not be paid overtime for their rostered shift.

· The lieu day to be taken by agreement between the employer/employee

· If an employee is on paid leave on this day, no leave will be recorded for the day and they will be paid ordinary rates for the day.
